The Tower

After completely disassembling my Widelux (and after buying special tools online), I now have accurately timed and fully operational 1/15, 1/125, and 1/250 shutter speeds (all three the camera can do). Saved myself ~$300 in repairs. 🙂

No crazy springs or other scary stuffs, just an impossibly large array of incredibly tiny gears that needed to be individually oiled and cleaned, then carefully placed back in the exact order, in the correct orientation, in the right spot, with the right pressure, on the right teeth marks.. it took a short eternity, but now everything works!

I’ll post more photos from my first roll soon. For now, my free time (hah..) will be dedicated to enjoying the 1/15 and 1/250 shutter speeds.

Cheers,
Andrew

I recently explored the Indiana Dunes. After a failed attempt at sand surfing with an apparently for-water-only boogie board (who’da thought..), I snapped this shot of a friend struggling to escape from the deathly clutches of his seemingly ravenous t-shirt.. I quite enjoy this one, especially the title I gave it. 🙂

Nice Curves

I’m about to embark on my last summer vacation ever (or for at least a short eternity). I plan to take lots of photos, and I might even share one or two… eventually.

Until then…

Cheers,
Andrew

It’s been an awfully long time since I last updated this blog thingy… So here’re a few nice photos of the end of a work day and beginning of an adventure…

Vanessa At Work

I’m a pretty big fan of the sun. I will always prefer natural light to any other source.

On another note, life continues to keep me busy. There are two more photos after the jump:

Ironically, it’s almost early enough for me to watch the sunrise as I type this…

Sunrise In Hamsterland

I have class at 10am today, a welcomed break from the usual 8am business. I abused my extra time by editing this photo for the world (mostly for my wall). I rarely find time to rummage through my photo archives these days, but last night I found myself digging for decent photos I’ve taken with my beloved tilt-shift.

It’s come to that dreaded point where I’ve spent my backup funds on sound gear and Subway sandwiches, so I am now forced to sell my incredibly versatile Canon 24mm f/3.5 L Tilt-Shift lens. It took an eternity to save enough money/muster up the courage to purchase this guy not more than a year or so ago, and we’ve been on some fantastic adventures together, but sadly, it’s time to let him go… until I can save enough to buy it back or upgrade. 🙂

I think this delightful photo I took of a Sunrise In Hamsterland will do my lens justice as a memorial in the interim.

And that’s my speech. More to come eventually…

Cheers,
Andrew

I’m fairly certain that medical school is slowly transforming me into a zombie. (Gerr..argh…er.. , cause: studying, diagnosis: zombie, prognosis: a passing grade?)

I think this is the only expression that’s been on my face for the last couple of weeks…
I could use a shave and a haircut, and maybe a nap.

Luckily today marks the start of autumn, my favorite season. I’ve missed it every time for the past four years while I’ve been in California. And now I suppose I’m ready for Halloween too. (I’m always ready for Halloween.)

I miss my camera. I’ve followed through with my New Year’s resolution to take at least one photo a day for the full year (give or take a day here and there, depending on how you define one..), but I’ve been stuck using my cell phone camera. My precious is collecting dust… and I can’t have that, it’s bad for the sensor (and my psyche). <--Hence the update. I needed to play with it.
And that’s my speech. More to come eventually…

Cheers,
Andrew

I captured some excellent photos today while walking along a mountain trail with a girl and her dog. The hills of the Marin Headlands are truly spectacular.

I’m going to scrub through the 1000+ photos I took today and post some of the landscapes, eventually. For now, here’s my favorite shot of Ally and Pepper:

My lease in Santa Cruz ends on June 30th, so I’m in the middle of making some very important life decisions at the moment. Who knows where my next adventures will take me…

I’ve just come home from a lovely weekend at Disneyland.

I’m not sure if Disneyland is the happiest place on earth, but it certainly elicits some excellent reactions from its visitors…

I’ll attempt to update this blog more often, but only with short posts like this. Mayhaps I’ll find some time to write in depth here and there…

Based on my little stats script, I see a few folks still check this page every once in a while, despite my lack of updates… Thanks much. I figure I owe you a photo or two…

Here’s a quick shot of my friend Mack, cruising around Los Angeles in his Miata:

Yup.

I will eventually find time to update this more often… Living, in general, and physically taking photos will always have priority over me sharing them digitally… but it will happen, from time to time.

Until then…

Cheers,
Andrew

Life, the Universe, and Everything have been keeping me as busy as ever these past few months, but I’ve kept my pact to snap at least one photo a day.

Here’s a quick shot of my delightful rubber cat, Rascal, captured in his natural habitat…

Rascal the Rubber Cat

(To those that think I’m nuts, you’re half right. I bought this thing a week before Halloween as a joke to put on my doorstep, as I felt my neighbor’s black cat of the same name needed an evil doppelganger for the holiday.)

I’m one short week away from completing my B.S. in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology (with a minor in Chemistry) at UCSC. Within the next three weeks I’ll have a fully updated site, ideally. Stay tuned folks, if you’re curious.

Cheers,
Andrew
