I captured some excellent photos today while walking along a mountain trail with a girl and her dog. The hills of the Marin Headlands are truly spectacular.
I’m going to scrub through the 1000+ photos I took today and post some of the landscapes, eventually. For now, here’s my favorite shot of Ally and Pepper:
My lease in Santa Cruz ends on June 30th, so I’m in the middle of making some very important life decisions at the moment. Who knows where my next adventures will take me…
Based on my little stats script, I see a few folks still check this page every once in a while, despite my lack of updates… Thanks much. I figure I owe you a photo or two…
Here’s a quick shot of my friend Mack, cruising around Los Angeles in his Miata:
Yup.
I will eventually find time to update this more often… Living, in general, and physically taking photos will always have priority over me sharing them digitally… but it will happen, from time to time.
Life, the Universe, and Everything have been keeping me as busy as ever these past few months, but I’ve kept my pact to snap at least one photo a day.
Here’s a quick shot of my delightful rubber cat, Rascal, captured in his natural habitat…
(To those that think I’m nuts, you’re half right. I bought this thing a week before Halloween as a joke to put on my doorstep, as I felt my neighbor’s black cat of the same name needed an evil doppelganger for the holiday.)
I’m one short week away from completing my B.S. in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology (with a minor in Chemistry) at UCSC. Within the next three weeks I’ll have a fully updated site, ideally. Stay tuned folks, if you’re curious.
Police REPORTED me for photographing the Diridon train station in San Jose, CA tonight. Click below for the story and some photos: Read the rest of the entry »
I was lucky enough to snag one of these off eBay for a whopping $14.99 (4.99 for the lens, 10 for shipping). I’ve taken soooo many photos since my last post (aboot 80GB worth), but since I got this in the mail today I figured I’d show off my new toy first.
It’s an odd looking lens… (see below), but it sure does take perrrty pictures.
I’d say this lens is a winner. I also scooped up a perspective correction lens on the cheap (about $150, which is extremely cheap for TS/PC lenses). Hopefully that baby’ll come in sometime next week…
Speaking of shiny stuffs, I’ve also engineered and machined a dolly out of aluminum, steel, and rollerskate wheels, but I’ll write about that later. It’s a step up from the K’nex model posted earlier.
Since I’ve spent all of my money (and then some…) on my camera, I’ve been searching for an alternative to buying an expensive camera dolly. After spending a few hours reverse-engineering and compiling the most expensive/classy designs on the net, I created an extremely efficient, smooth, lightweight, and cost-effective model. Depressingly, nobody sells the steel or aluminum I need to build it, locally at least.
I need a dolly for a shoot this weekend, so buying online isn’t an option. Since I couldn’t buy parts, I thought to build a prototype out of the next best thing, K’nex.
Finally, my video rendered:
If you watch, please view it in full HD, (Blue box at top right corner).
I’m glad my test video finally managed to render on my ancient computer. I’m still disappointed by the terrible ghosting Vegas managed to add to my otherwise crisp and incredible footage.
Everything about the Canon 5D Mark II is beautiful.
